Dear Fellow AE 510ers,

My name is Nathan Barry and I am a junior in the BS/MS program.  I am seeking my bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering and my Masters in Civil Engineering concentrating on structures.  I’m currently the Vice President of the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI), working diligently on planning the 2014 National AEI Student Conference.  My previous BIM modeling experience consists of every other class that I had with Professor Mitchell, including CAEE 201 and AE 390.

My expectations of this class are the same as any other class, to learn about the topic pertaining to my interests.  Buildings are my interest and I thought ‘Intelligent Buildings’ would teach me how to make buildings smarter such as advanced monitoring systems and control systems.  Also, I would like to learn more advanced techniques on building modeling.  I’ve used Revit before but the basic one story house is pretty much the most advanced structure I can model.

The previous statement about making buildings smarter goes along with defining ‘Intelligent Buildings’.  It is the advancement in the building industry using state of the art technology and incorporating it into structures.
